In Oregon it seems as though you could throw a rock and hit a photographer. Now we aren’t saying that is a bad thing, we love the choices and variety, however in the world of Google it’s easy to get overwhelmed. We want to make that a bit easier!
We absolutely love working with Erica Ann Photography! We appreciate photographers that are willing to go above and beyond for their clients, whether hiking to a waterfall, putting her camera an inch from the water or climbing through the snow Erica will do whatever it takes to get your perfect shot, and if you don’t believe us, just check out the pics below!
What made you decide to become a photographer?
My photography professor in college had a wedding photographer friend looking for an assistant. I helped him shoot one wedding and I was hooked! I loved being able to capture all of the special moments that only happen on a wedding day, there's such a wide range of emotions!
What is your favorite part of the wedding day?
That can be so different depending on the wedding day. I think my favorite things are always the adventures and unplanned surprises that can sometimes happen. At one wedding the bride and groom jumped into the pool and started a pool party at the end of their reception. One wedding at Silcox Hut was a crazy blizzard in October - a time of year that doesn't even have snow every year. Or when the couple honored the bride's grandmother with "At Last," the song she sang over and over when she got out of the Japanese internment camp!
What makes you stand out in your field?
In everything that I photograph, I strive for the truth. I'm not interested in standard poses and always looking at the camera. Those have their place, but the images that my clients love are the real emotions and beauty of their story.
In your experience, what is one piece of advice that you would give your couples?
Give yourself extra time in your schedule and hire a professional wedding coordinator! (Seriously) The day flies by so fast, you don't want to be worrying about little details and adding stress for yourself. Its so nice to have little breaks through the day to pause and enjoy everything and everyone around you.
What are you most excited about for this upcoming year?
I'm excited to add a new branch to my business - Newborn by Erica! And coincidentally, have my own little bundle of joy!
